10 rules for people who want to live positively

1. Create time for yourself daily to reflect on and to journal your experiences & priorities

We often fill our days with work and other commitments, that we are left with a time deficit and so don’t do      any self reflections. Without this, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and disoriented. Taking an active role in

creating time to allow yourself to pursue these important things deliberately and consistently.

2. Transition from a negative orientation to more positive thought patterns

“Always look on the bright side of life”. You can reprogram your mind to automatically look on the bright           side of circumstances you face, however dire. You can start to see the lessons, growth opportunities,

wisdom, etc in the face of adversity or setbacks.

3. Focus on Joy. What makes you happy?

Joy is a powerful emotion in regulating your body. It strengthens neural pathways in our brain. This means        the more you consciously train your brain to focus on joy, the more you will intuitively be happy in the

future. Joy helps us to be objective and to find clarity and to not freeze. Unhappiness can trigger many

conditions e.g. stress, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, etc

Make time to do things that make you happy often.

4. Focus on Gratitude

Expressing and receiving gratitude allows our brains to release dopamine and serotonin, 2 “feel good”

neurotransmitters responsible for regulating our emotions. They enhance our mood, give us more vitality

and deregulate our pain. Gratitude will help us to strengthen our relationships. Cultivating gratitude

enhances happiness. Gratitude also improves our health, sleep quality and increases our energy levels.

Think about how energized you feel when you are in a good mood or you have received great news!

5. Be objective in situations

Allow yourself to think broadly and open-mindedly. This will make you more resistant to manipulation and

allow you to better predict how things may unfold in your life. It takes away polarizing thought processes

6. Surround yourself with compassionate and positive people

Surrounding yourself with positive people makes you a more positive person too.

7. Get inspired

Read an inspiring book, connect with nature, learn a new skill

8. Laugh often

Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow throughout your body. Laughter      can protect you from heart attacks and is an antidepressant. It releases endorphins in the brain which

    enhance our happiness.

9. Love yourself

Self care motivates us to act and concentrate on our goals. When you pay attention to yourself you will be

able to change your limiting beliefs. A healthy way is to practice positive affirmations that help build your

self esteem. Forgive yourself often and take time to relax and take some down time. Let go of  toxic anger.
