10 rules for people who want to live positively

1. Create time for yourself daily to reflect on and to journal your experiences & priorities
We often fill our days with work and other commitments, that we are left with a time deficit and so don’t do any self reflections. Without this, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and disoriented. Taking an active role in
creating time to allow yourself to pursue these important things deliberately and consistently.

2. Transition from a negative orientation to more positive thought patterns
“Always look on the bright side of life”. You can reprogram your mind to automatically look on the bright side of circumstances you face, however dire. You can start to see the lessons, growth opportunities,
wisdom, etc in the face of adversity or setbacks.

3. Focus on Joy. What makes you happy?
Joy is a powerful emotion in regulating your body. It strengthens neural pathways in our brain. This means the more you consciously train your brain to focus on joy, the more you will intuitively be happy in the
future. Joy helps us to be objective and to find clarity and to not freeze. Unhappiness can trigger many
conditions e.g. stress, depression, anxiety, hopelessness, etc
Make time to do things that make you happy often.

Expressing and receiving gratitude allows our brains to release dopamine and serotonin, 2 “feel good”
neurotransmitters responsible for regulating our emotions. They enhance our mood, give us more vitality
and deregulate our pain. Gratitude will help us to strengthen our relationships. Cultivating gratitude
enhances happiness. Gratitude also improves our health, sleep quality and increases our energy levels.
Think about how energized you feel when you are in a good mood or you have received great news!
